February 6, 2019 CDD Highlights
The Board approved new surveillance equipment to enhance our current system. This will allow for integration of all cameras to be viewed on one monitor. It will be a phased approach that will include cameras and programming that will effectively read license plates. Should an incident occur, these new enhancements will allow extracting video to be much easier and more efficient.
Speed continues to be an issue. It is a concern for the safety of our residents, as well as, the wildlife. The speed limit in our community is 20 MPH. This month, 986 vehicles were clocked, by our radar sign, driving between 26-35 MPH.
To help in the effort to reduce speed, a second mobile radar sign has been approved and will be installed as soon as possible. Also, a meeting has been scheduled for February 20th with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Enforcement and the HOA to discuss reducing speed. Additionally, a “Resident Driven Community Speed Awareness Day” is being discussed. Information on the event will be forthcoming.
Proposals to replace three adjustable incline benches were approved and will be placed in the Fitness Center, as soon as possible. The Board also approved the purchase of a new ping-pong table, to replace the well-used older table.
Chuck Burnite, of GHS Environmental, gave an update on the Ambleside wetlands violation. He reported that the restoration is moving along and will continue to monitor the progress.
Our new landscaping company, Redtree Landscape Systems, continues to get familiar with our property and is preparing plant selection and rendering for the March 1st rotation.
Congratulations to Steven Brown who is transitioning from a Lodge Representative position to the Assistant Manager.
Our District Manager informed the Board, Wilderness Lake Preserve is required to have community website ADA compliant by October 1, 2019. As this was just brought to our attention, little information is known i.e., cost to the District. Therefore, at the March CDD meeting this will be put on the agenda for discussion. District Counsel, District Management, and our insurance company will be in attendance.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, at 9:30am, in the Activities Center.
