Wilderness Lake Preserve CDD held its regular monthly business meeting on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Here are some highlights from the District’s January meeting:
WLP’S District Engineer reviewed progress on the installation of the playground ramp. The handrails have been installed and the wood will be stained. It is anticipated that the concrete will be poured within the next few weeks.
The Board discussed the need for some sod replacement, shade trees, and additional seating at four areas in the community. It is anticipated that the Board will make a final decision at the February 1 meeting. The four areas are:
- Stoneleigh Park: Part of the large, open play area in the center of the park needs to be re-sodded. The recommendation is to use Common Bermuda, which will withstand tough playing better than St. Augustine or Bahia. The Board also discussed the possibility of converting the sodded volleyball court to a sand court, as it is difficult to maintain sod in that area.
- Citrus Blossom Open Area (adjacent to the Neighborhood Park at Citrus Blossom and Whispering Wind): Part of this area needs to be re-sodded with St Augustine. This is a no-charge item from the landscaping vendor.
- Tower Road Park: Part of the large, open play area in the center of the park needs to be re-sodded. The recommendation is to use Common Bermuda, which will withstand tough playing better than St. Augustine or Bahia.
- Kendall Heath Dead-End Open Area: This area needs to be re-sodded, and new shade shrubs planted at the very end (on the curve), where it is too deeply shaded for sod to live.
The Board reviewed a report of all WLP vendor contracts and standard services (management company, landscaping, wetlands, pool cleaning, etc.), and discussed the need to periodically review and potentially rebid WLP’s larger contracts. Review of the management company (Rizzetta & Company, managing WLP since 4/2013) was placed on the March 1st agenda. At the March 1st meeting, the District’s attorney will review the process and cost for rebidding this contract should the Board choose to do so.
The next CDD meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday, February 1st in the Activities Center. Resident input is always welcome. We hope to see you there!
