CDD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

May 2, 2018

The meeting opened with the Board hearing comments from residents regarding:

  • The condition of a pond in Deerfields. (since the meeting, 4 loads of yard debris have been removed from the pond.  As a reminder, WLP’s ponds, wetlands, and setback areas are NOT to be used for dumping resident yard debris.)
  • A request to extend the hours the tennis court is lit past the current 10:00 PM cutoff. (The Board chose not to extend the time due to the proximity of the courts to homes and night security concerns.)
  • Repeated vehicle damage to the landscaping at the entrance to Waters Edge. (The entrance will be reviewed again for possible solutions during the May landscaping inspection.)

The Board took final comments on lighting the volleyball court at Stoneleigh Park.  At this time, the Board chose to not move forward with this project due to cost and objections from nearby residents.  The Board also discussed adding some type of additional amenities to the Woodsmere/Oakhurst Park.  The Board directed staff to obtain pricing for additional play equipment (monkey bars, etc.)  The Board will review the proposals at the July 11th meeting.  It was also noted by staff that the tether-ball at the park has to be replaced every couple of weeks due to theft.   Should this continue, the tether-ball set will be removed.

The Board reviewed the final changes to the Reserve Schedule (money set aside annually for repair & replacement of capital items) and formally accepted the schedule for the next fiscal year.

On April 19th, the Board held its annual Budget Workshop to review and prepare the 2018-2019 fiscal year budget (10/01/18 – 9/30/19).  At the May 2nd regular meeting, the Board approved the proposed budget for submission to Pasco County and set the Budget Public Hearing for August 8th at 6:30 PM.  The proposed budget for next fiscal year keeps CDD assessments at the same amount as this year.

The Board received an update on the roadway paver repair project at the entrance of WLP.  The project is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, May 21.  The Lodge will keep the community informed via e-blast regarding any changes to this schedule.

The next CDD meeting is June 6th, at 9:30 AM, in the Activities Center

Resident input is always welcome … we hope to see you there!
