November 2, 2016 CDD Meeting Highlights

Wilderness Lake Preserve CDD held its regular monthly business meeting on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.  Here is some timely news, together with highlights from the District’s November meeting:

GET OUT AND VOTE!  On Tuesday, November 8, our Nation selects its leaders.  The District urges everyone to get out and vote.

Election for District Supervisor ~ On Tuesday, November 8, the Wilderness Lake community will choose a new Supervisor for Seat 5.  The candidates are Richard Suttmeier and Sam Watson.  Your vote counts, and certainly matters!!

Hail and Farewell ~ Angelo Daniel is leaving his seat as Supervisor, and the November meeting was his last.  The Board and the entire Wilderness Lake community thank Angelo for his service and wish him well in all his endeavors.  He has made a difference here.

Playground Access ~ We all see that the Lodge playground is finished.  Children are swinging, sliding, and having fun.  Inspections have certified the structure to fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and to meet other safety ratings.

Questions have popped up about sidewalk access, and particularly about handrails.  The vendor has drawn up some proposals, and the District Engineer has weighed in.  The Board expects the problem to be resolved and the solution to be put in place over the next thirty days.

Celebration of Life Garden ~ Installation of the benches, landscaping and plaque is complete.  This new area is now open for residents to use.  It lies between the pool and the dock, next to the Butterfly Garden.

Landscaping ~ The CDD’s largest and most visible contract is the one with our area maintenance and landscaping vendor.  Beth Edwards has agreed to act as the Board’s liaison with Sunrise Landscaping.  She made an initial report on plant rotation, warranty issues and other matters.  If you have questions or comments about this aspect of our neighborhood, you can speak to Beth or contact her at supervisor2@wlpcdd.org.

You can find more information about the November meeting from the Board’s draft Minutes.  Those Minutes will be posted with the December meeting agenda.  Our Board’s next meeting is set for the morning of Wednesday, December 7, 2016, and will start at 9:30 a.m.
