CDD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
November 7, 2018
The meeting opened with a resident request for a one-time exception to the “No parking on CDD common property” policy. With input from the District Attorney, this policy was revamped and tightened up by the Board several months ago. The suggestion/request was that residents have the ability to apply for a special permit with the Lodge, valid for one day only and subject to a security deposit, that would allow residents to utilize District property for parking when they are hosting a large event at their home. The Board will make a decision on this at the December 5th meeting. Resident input on the topic should be emailed to Tish Dobson, Lodge Manager, (firstname.lastname@example.org) by December 4th.
Supervisor Lou Weissing gave a verbal report on his research to date regarding investment options for the District Reserve funds. Additional research is still needed, and Mr. Weissing will be presenting a written report at the December meeting.
The Board reviewed three bids to correct the pond bank erosion at pond 31 (Ambleside Drive). The low bid by Dragonfly Pond Works was approved. Work should commence in the next several weeks.
The Board approved a revised contract with Vanguard Cleaning Systems of Tampa Bay. The rate for the next year, and the total number of hours worked, will remain the same. However, the hours will be split into 4 days each week instead of 5. Keeping the contract at 5 days would have resulted in a somewhat substantial price increase. Staff will be closely monitoring the situation, and if there is a resulting performance issue, the contract will be placed out to bid.
During the last month, the landscape maintenance contract was placed out for bid. Ten vendors attended the bid meeting and 5 of those submitted bids. Board members will be individually reviewing the bid packages over the next month. The bidding vendors will be invited to make brief presentations to the Board on December 12th, 9:30 AM, in the Activities Center. Please note, the Board will hold its regular December meeting on December 5th, 9:30 AM, in the Activities Center. However, that meeting will be continued to the 12th to allow for the landscape bid vendor presentations and Board discussion.
The next CDD meeting is December 5th, at 9:30 AM, in the Activities Center.
Resident input is always welcome … we hope to see you there!
